I linked the other week to a video in which author and former environmentalist Paul Kingsnorth spoke about Christ and Creation, and expressed his surprise at having become a Christian.

Today, I read this fascinating article in First Things called The Cross and the Machine, in which Kingsnorth unpacked in more depth his journey, and how it led him – via Buddhism, Wicca, and various other side-roads – to the feet of Jesus.

Like the video before, the whole thing is worth engaging with, and to attempt to summarise it would do it a huge injustice. Paul Kingsnorth’s writing is spectacularly good, and deserves to be read in full. Whether or not you consider yourself a religious person, do yourself a favour and set aside some time to read it. You’ll be glad you did.
