In April 2021 Helen and I moved to Oxford, following a series of unexpected prophetic words and dreams. If you’re not bored of having heard the story, you can catch some of it here and my one year update here.
It’s been quite a journey, working out precisely why God has called us here, and we’ve loved the adventure! He’s been so kind in providing a wonderful church, a great school for our daughter, jobs, a house, community, friends… and the next part of the puzzle is that I’ve recently begun working two days a week for Oxford Community Church, alongside three days at Bible Society.
One of the things I’m focussing on is leading School of the Spirit; a six-month course for followers of Jesus who want to go deeper in their knowledge and experience of the Holy Spirit. Helen and I have both been students on the course for the past couple of years, and have hugely benefited from it. It’s a great place to learn with others, and grow in faith, spiritual gifts, and our relationship with God.
The course runs at The King’s Centre, Oxford on most Tuesday evenings from October 2023 – March 2024, with occasional Friday evenings and Saturdays. It will include plenty of teaching, worship, ministry, and an opportunity to practice through small groups and activations.
In the last few years we have seen people physically healed, learn to hear God’s voice, experience new levels of personal freedom, and share the gospel with new boldness. We’re excited to see what God will do this year!
As well as receiving teaching from the School of the Spirit team, we are also excited to have some fantastic guests, including Wendy Mann, Greg Downes, and Damilola Makinde. And we will cover topics like:
- Who is the Holy Spirit and what is He like?
- How do we receive the Holy Spirit?
- How do I connect with God as Father?
- How do I receive and grow in gifts of the Spirit?
- How do I hear God for myself and others?
- How can I heal the sick?
- How can I share my faith in the power of the Spirit?
For the past few years, the course has largely been run for people at Oxford Community Church, but this year we are pleased to open it up to anyone who would like to join us!

Testimonies from previous students:
“School of the Spirit has brought back to life some things that had laid dormant. It has genuinely been one of the best things I have done. It’s like God has breathed fresh life and expectation into me and reminded me of things I had previously known.”
“I finally know God as my heavenly Father after years of trying to really feel it in my spirit and soul, as opposed to knowing it in my head.”
“This has had a profound impact on my spiritual life and my walk with Christ.”
“I’ve had the amazing experience of hearing the Holy Spirit for others, praying for individuals and being told it was ‘spot on’ and life changing; so humbling.”
“I have found a new boldness to speak about Jesus at work and with neighbours. I feel re-energised in my faith and less unsure about being a Christian.”
“Anyone who wants to go on an adventure with God would benefit from School of the Spirit, and especially anyone in leadership.”
