The Image of God (Genesis 1.26–31)

On Sunday I spoke at Aston and Cote Community Church, as part of their series on Genesis 1–11. We considered the (rather daunting!) topic of what it means to be made in the image of God, and I explored what that phrase meant in its Ancient Near Eastern context; how we should understand our commission as Priests and Kings, filled with God’s Spirit; and how the gospels portray Jesus as the true Image Bearer, who has come to rescue and restore us to our intended identity.
