On Saturday I had the privilege of speaking at a Worship Training Day, gathering 80 worship leaders and musicians from across the Salt & Light Advance family of churches. It was such a rich and enjoyable day, and God’s presence was so tangible as we worshipped.
I gave two talks, the first of which was a biblical theology of singing entitled Why on earth do we sing? This was such a delight to prepare, and I experienced so much personal challenge and revelation as I spent time looking at all the Scriptures about singing, and discovering themes and links I’d never noticed before. (Honestly, if it benefits nobody else but myself, it would be well worth it!)
The second talk looked at the theme of Hosting God’s presence. We considered the difference between God’s omnipresence and his manifest presence, and what it looks like to be worshippers and worship leaders who seek and honour God’s presence.
The recordings and slides for the two sessions are below. I hope you enjoy them!
